JOZEF VAN WISSEM: I probably can't play polka although I have never tried

Recently i read that You are coming to Lithuania, my native country. Great news. Is it a part of Your tour or a solo concert? What should people expect in it? Will You be here for the first time?

I played at a festival in lithuania, a few years back, strcamp, there was a lot of rain. this concert is part  of my tour for ' when shall this bright day begin' my last solo record. i will play songs from the last album and some earlier lute pieces, i also sing nowadays. expect trance.

Before You Alina Orlova will play. She's a real talent of ours. Do You know her music, how do You like it if so? What do You think about Lithuanian music in general, what do You value?

i have never heard of alina unfortunately. lately i haven't been listening to much music because i always see a lot of live bands so i am oversaturated.

You are famous for Your albums of minimalism and great creativity and as a wonderful lute player. What music do You value most? What do You listen on the next day after Your play Your concert?

the next day after i play a concert there's usually another show. i am into minimal electronics  but i also listen to a lot of classical solo lute players like miguel ysrael. he gave me a black lute.

Are there styles which You couldn't play (punk rock, metal, noise, ...)?

i just recorded a metal piece for an upcoming contemporary western seen from the  native american viewpoint. i played in a punk band in the early 80's. i probably can't play polka although i have never tried.

What is and what is not Sound Art? Now there are many artists who created various kinds of music. Is it good that they are many? Is it possible to follow what's new happening in the world of music?

you mean avant garde? there's a lot of interesting things happening in eastern countries, i meet great musicians all the time.

Your favorite writer / book.

Your plans - new(est) album, concerts, ...?

i am writing a new soundtrack which i am finishing soon. there will be a new record in 2017 too. and i am working on a film script based on a historical character. he's a jesus freak and into self flaggelation.

Thank You.
