Interview with Tonttufindergeneral Hanz-Baal (TONTTU) about Anti-Gnome Muzik

What collaborations were/are the most interesting and important to You and why?

Sounds lame but every co-op means the world to me, I am not musician as such and to have the means to express my hatred towards all things gnomish requires tons of help: Lucky to know a good few who have understood this grave situation!

Latest collaboration naturally being the split with Fahl and P. Emerson Williams, I really do cherish that one!

TONTTU is one big melting pot for all kinds of collaborations so I just say thank you to all of you involved! But my heart belongs to my co-TONTTUists Großinquisitor Rudolf Von Deer and High Commander Hephzibah.

What are the main ideas are behind Your music? Could You name Your favorite Your compositions / albums / collaborations? What about the new album? How many are them in Your discography?

Main idea is to do music that fills the requirements of Anti-Gnome Propaganda!

WORD according to TONTTU:

"Music should be made by these rules as follows:
Gnomes will get offensive and aggressive as they listen to it, sympathizers shall run for their lives and seek for the cover...
That is what good music is like and makes it easy to spot those vile destroyers of all that is good.
If you need an example of such a purity in music, look no further!"

I do not compose that much, only bring ideas to the table, but I do enjoy a lot of our anthem found from Anti-Gnomen Divisionen 4-album.
Thing is, my favourites change from time to time but there are these Anti-Gnomen Nevergreens that I go back to. I do listen our music a lot, hahahahahh, well why not as we are the leading Anti-Gnome Orchestra out there!
New album being the split there's only two of our songs and I love them both! Same goes to the whole album.

The sound is magic. You‘ve proved it. But, what ends, when there‘s no sound?

When there is no sound there will be no humans, animals or nature for that matter. But that would most probably also mean the end for those vile gnomes so I see that as the most reasonable price to pay!

What is and what is not a Sound Art?

It is the discipline of using music only as the tool for the goal: The eradication of gnomes! It should be nothing else, as that is the only thing that matters in the end.

What do You think about relations between the old art and computer art? Are they compatible?

I see no difference: There was the time our species did not have guitars and... Oh well, take it from there as I believe this ominous and suspicious artefact of destruction is now widely accepted... Should it be? Well, gnomes seem to hate in right hands it so it is more than okay for me!

What do You think about thousands of neofolk/industrial/ambient/tribal/electroacoustic/avangarde etc. bands/projects? Is it a kind of trend, o just a tendency forwards better music?

I categorize music only according to its purpose:

1) Anti-Gnome Muzik
2) Pro-Gnome Muzak

So if you are in category 1 you are pure at your heart and your music is filling its purpose! No need for other categorizations!
I think more detailed categorizations are only good for peaking peoples' interest (like our Anti-Gnomemartialindustrialneofolkmetal does.)
But all you people out there doing your stuff: Keep doing it and stay Anti-Gnomen!

What do You know about Lithuania? How and when did You come to it? What Lithuanian and foreign musicians do You value most?

Too little, I am afraid. Should visit there someday.

As for musicians from Lithuania I can only say this: I know there are Anti-Gnome musicians out there but they want to do it as undercover-operation so I cannot blow their cover, very sneaky! (Hahahha, close call!)

As for my favourite musicians outside of Finland: Uhhh, everyone doing Anti-Gnome Muzik! I do have the highest of respect for everyone who have and/or will join our cause!

You can take a listen to our music and maybe you will find out the roots for our (controversial) stuff, hehehehehhe...

I could mention couple of bands from my playlist right now: Miel Noir, Harmony Garden and Veil Of Thorns... I usually listen loads of darker metal and industrial, not to forget more folkish things.

Finland is a land of metal music, lakes and metal music, lakes. Suomi is one of the most interesting lands i've ever visited, it's a pity i can't understand the language. Do Suomalainens often sing in their own language?

Hahaha, our lingo is one tough cookie to crack, I give it that! And people are even harder... Even though they usually could benefit from a bit of crackeroonie... Sigh... Oh, humanity!

Yes, in fact there's loads of band singing in Finnish and I see that as the most excellent thing, naturally those wanting to conquer the world do what is usually needed and do it in Inglese.

I must give a shout for couple of Finnish bands using our beloved language: "Keuhkot" rocks! Just incredibly good avantgardian music with awesome lyrics.

Second band getting the nomination is "Abyssion." Gotta love those psychedelic blacksters, highly recommended.

What inspires You most?

The glorious future where there will not be a single gnome to be eradicated as we have reached the final gnome-solution! Easy as that.
As long as there is those vile spleen-eating abominations of the nature I feel the urge to continue this valiant crusade. That is my only inspiration and very righteous one at that!

What are You working on right now?

Spamming our split mostly, heh. But seriously: Working on The Book about gnomes and their schemes with Thomas Jude Barclay Morrison and P. Emerson Williams. It will be the most influential and informational book that this world has ever seen and it will bring all that gnomesian horror out in the open, maybe then even some of you will understand what we are doing and why! We have loads of evidence no one can deny and if someone tries we will treat them as enemies for the cause!

I cannot reveal our sources but there are many and they are very respectable and reliable!

At the same time there are couple of projects with spoken word but is it me in them or some kindred spirit channelling my hate towards gnomes in another way? Who knows! Hephzibah from TONTTU will be also attending ...

Let us say you may want to check out project called Dødsrige with DJ Vrhovny (our valiant conspirator through years, known for his projects Irrenhaus, Dead Skull etc etc.... etc...) included. The other project will be all Finnish for change, mystical and no doubt very entertaining when we get there!

Next TONTTU-album is already brewing, but we will leave this subject veiled for now... No hurry to go there.

Been also writing a good bunch of lyrics for the close friend of mine, hopefully we see them used in the near future!

What does Your band name mean to You?

TONTTU? Well that is quite obvious as it means a gnome in english. It stands as the warning for the curious and for the reminder for us diving deep in this holy war!
